What to Expect
What type of church are we?
Bayou George House of Prayer is a full gospel, Bible believing, people loving church. We are a small church and visitors are always welcome! If you are visiting for the first time please do not feel obligated to participate in the offering or time for testimonies. We are just glad you are here!
What does a typical Sunday look like?
Sunday morning service includes Sunday school from 10:00-11:00 AM, followed by worship and the morning sermon. Morning service concludes around noon. We meet again for the evening service at 6:00 PM with worship followed by the evening sermon. This service concludes around 7:00 PM. During worship we sing songs of praise to the Lord in the form of traditional gospel hymns. Each service begins and ends with prayer, and there is often a time for members to share their testimonies with the congregation. It is important to note that we do not have any repeat sermons. The morning and evening service may be completely separate, or the evening service may be a continuation of the morning service topic. So if you can, please join us for both!
What about my kids?
We provide Sunday school for pre-schoolers (located in the nursery) and school-age children (located upstairs). During church service, we encourage children to sit with the congregation, but the nursery is available for infants and toddlers as needed.
What should I wear?
Please dress respectfully and comfortably. Some people wear suits or dresses, while others wear jeans and tennis shoes. The most important thing is that you come!
What Bible translation do you use?
Sermons are preached from the King James Version Holy Bible. If you do not have a Bible do not worry! Bibles are provided on the back of every pew.
